- "Most recently, Scimitar's new 'vertical swoop' tactics proved especially useful in the assault of the Aturi Cluster, where Rebels had set up powerful anti-atmospheric defenses."
- ―A compilation of Galactic Empire documents by Major Arhul Hextrophon
The Aturi Cluster[3] was located in the Outer Rim Territories' Hook Nebula.[1] At some point by the time shortly after the Battle of Yavin, the Alliance to Restore the Republic established formidable anti-atmospheric defenses there. As part of the Galactic Civil War's Hook Nebula campaign, the Qeimet fleet of the Galactic Empire launched an assault on the star cluster. During that engagement, the fleet's Scimitar assault wing, which was commanded by Captain Tomax Bren and utilized TIE/sa tactical bombers, used its recently developed[3] Vertical Swoop tactic[4] to great effect. The assault on the Aturi Cluster was subsequently mentioned in a compilation of Imperial documents made by Rebel historian Major Arhul Hextrophon for Alliance Supreme Commander Mon Mothma and other Rebel officers.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
The Aturi Cluster was first mentioned in Greg Gorden's 1989 Imperial Sourcebook that was published by West End Games for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[5] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas subsequently placed it in grid square O-18.[2]
