Avon Starros was a human female who was the daughter of Galactic Republic senator Ghirra Starros and a member of the Starros clan. She was an aspiring inventor who lived during the High Republic Era. At the time of the Great Disaster, Starros, along with her protocol droid J-6, was supervised by Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh while traveling on a cruiser to the dedication ceremony of the new space station Starlight Beacon. However, when bombs went off aboard the cruiser, Starros, J-6, Rwoh, Padawan Imri Cantaros, and Honesty Weft escaped in a shuttle and wound up stranded on Wevo, a nearby jungle moon.[2]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Avon Starros appeared in the junior novel The High Republic: A Test of Courage, written by Justina Ireland.[2] Avon shares the name "Starros" with her descendant, the Imperial Era smuggler Sana Starros.[3] The publisher's summary for A Test of Courage stated that Avon was eleven years old during the events of the book, whereas Ireland stated in a Comic-Con panel that Avon was twelve years old. Ireland later clarified that Avon was indeed twelve during the events of A Test of Courage.[4]

Notes and references[edit | edit source]

  1. The Star Wars Book dates the launch of the Starlight Beacon to 232 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 232 BBY in the dating system used by Star Wars: Galactic Atlas. As The High Republic: A Test of Courage takes place shortly before the dedication of the Starlight Beacon, its events must occur around that year. Avon Starros is said to be twelve years old in the novel, placing her birth around 244 BBY.
