Axxila, an ecumenopolis in the Outer Rim Territories, was often described as "Coruscant, but inside-out".
History
Axxila was located in the same "corridor" as Edusa and Vandyne, and was part of the Ciutric Hegemony.
It was the homeworld of Imperial Admiral Firmus Piett, the last commanding officer of Darth Vader's Death Squadron. Axxila was one of the main shipyards for the Imperial Remnant, and had most of the advanced designs. Their military strength even rivaled Bastion. Ysanne Isard sent Admiral Krennel to attack the planet in order to prevent Sate Pestage from giving Coruscant to the New Republic. Krennel wiped out many civilians in the strike.
Behind the scenes
Axxila may be named for axilla, the Latin term for armpit, suggesting that the planet is "the armpit of the Galaxy".
