This article covers a subject from a Star Wars: Visions story that Lucasfilm declared is set in an alternate history within a reimagined galaxy.

"Ever since you and your brother were delivered to our care, I have watched you grow, and now I will finally be able to witness you complete your mission."
―B-2ON, to Am[3]

B-2ON was a protocol droid that served the twins Am and Karre, Dark Lords of the T-Empire. At some point after the Battle of Exegol of 35 ABY, B-2ON was with Am in her throne room aboard a Gemini-class Star Destroyer. He reported to her that the final adjustments to the ship and its hyper cannon superweapon were being made and that it would soon be operational. Just as Am gave the order to fire the weapon, they received an alert that the reactor core's power source had been stolen. Am realized that Karre had stolen it, and B-2ON accompanied her to a hangar, where they confronted him. With the help of his astromech droid R-DUO, Karre escaped the hangar and then dueled Am on the Star Destroyer's surface. After Karre defeated Am and left her floating unconscious, B-2ON used a jetpack to recover her.

Biography[]

Serving the twins[]

"Once the refined dark energy is unleashed through the ship's hyper cannon, it will easily be capable of destroying a planet or any resistant star systems. However, I am concerned about the effect this prototype dark armor could have on your physical body, as well as that of your brother."
―B-2ON, to Am[3]

B-2ON reports to Am.

B-2ON was a protocol droid who acted as a loyal servant to Am and Karre, Force-sensitive twins who served as Dark Lords of the T-Empire.[1] He[2] raised Am and acted as a nanny, teacher, and companion to her.[1] At some point after the Battle of Exegol of 35 ABY,[4] B-2ON was with Am in her throne room aboard a Gemini-class Star Destroyer and reported to her that the final adjustments to the ship had been made. The droid remembered how he had watched Am and Karre grow and became emotional upon realizing that he would soon be able to watch them complete their mission of bringing order to the galaxy.[3]

After Am declared they would do so, B-2ON informed her that the Star Destroyer's hyper cannon superweapon would soon be ready to fire. Am asked if the weapon would be at full strength, and B-2ON confirmed that it would be, then explained the process of how the hyper cannon used dark energy to destroy planets or star systems. B-2ON then noted that the hyper cannon used the same dark energy as the prototype dark armor used by Am and Karre, and expressed concern about the effects it could have on their bodies. Am told him not to worry, as she was prepared to sacrifice everything for the dark side. The droid found her response inspiring, and stated he would forever be a humble servant to her and Karre.[3]

Karre's betrayal[]

"Master Karre, this is quite disappointing."

Am then gave the order to ready the hyper cannon, but just as she did, they received an alert that the reactor core's power source had been stolen. B-2ON was surprised, as only Am and Karre were able to access the reactor core chamber. Am and B-2ON noticed Karre was not in his throne room, and while the droid wondered where he had gone, Am realized that the power core had been stolen by Karre—who secretly had done so to save Am's life.[3]

B-2ON accompanied Am and a group of T-Stormtroopers to confront Karre in a hangar aboard the ship, where he planned to steal a T-X-wing starfighter and escape. Am attempted to convince Karre to hand over the power core, and B-2ON expressed disappointment at Karre's actions. However, Karre refused to return it, and Am prepared to attack him. Before she could, Karre's astromech droid R-DUO fired at Am from the X-wing[3] he[2] had stolen, allowing Karre to escape the hangar. Am pursued him, and the two dueled on the surface of the Star Destroyer. Karre defeated Am, destroying her armor and part of the Star Destroyer, then left her floating unconscious among the debris. Wearing a jetpack and helmet, B-2ON flew to Am and rescued her.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

"The way B-2ON carries himself and the way he talks reminds you of an old butler. He's experienced and usually reserved. Yet sometimes he shows a surprisingly emotional side that comes from devotion and dedication, leading to an unwavering determination to protect Am and his masters' mission at any cost."
―Kanako Shirasaki[2]

Concept art of B-2ON

B-2ON first appeared in "THE TWINS," a short film written by Hiromi Wakabayashi, directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, and released as part of the first volume of the non-canon Star Wars: Visions series. The animated short, produced by Studio Trigger,[3] was released on September 22, 2021.[5] He was voiced by Tokuyoshi Kawashima in Japanese and by Jonathan Lipow in the English dub.[3] Prior to the short's release, B-2ON was first was depicted in a video uploaded to the official Star Wars YouTube channel on July 3, 2021.[6] B-2ON then appeared in the original Japanese and English dub trailers for the series, which were both uploaded to the official Star Wars YouTube channel on August 17 of that year.[7][8] He was first named in a StarWars.com article posted on August 17, 2021, although his name was incorrectly spelled as B-20N.[5] The correct spelling of B-2ON was first provided in another article published on September 15 of that year, although it repeated the spelling error in its first mention of the character.[2]

B-2ON is a reference to the droid C-3PO, and B-2ON's name was created by shifting each of the letters and numbers in C-3PO's name one space. B-2ON's role is similar to that of[1] the DC comics superhero[9] Batman's[1] butler[9] Alfred,[1] and Visions producer Kanako Shirasaki compared the way he talks to an old butler.[2] Imaishi said that he liked the contrast between Star Wars droids looking like robots but having human personalities.[1]
