This article is about an Easter egg.

This article covers a subject that was included as an Easter egg in a Star Wars Legends source and may not have been considered canon within the Legends continuity.

The BBQ droid[3] was a B1-series battle droid of the Trade Federation of Planets that acted as a cooking droid and had begun operation[1] by 32 BBY.[4] He was deployed whenever members of the Neimoidian species who were affiliated with the Trade Federation became hungry.[3] In 32 BBY,[4] he was stationed on an asteroid in the Naboo system[1] of the Mid Rim's[5] Chommell sector.[6] The droid prepared a meal of four red, cylindrically-shaped foodstuffs with a grill, while it watched pilot Rhys Dallows of the Naboo Royal Space Fighter Corps' Bravo Flight squadron engage in training drills against holographic starfighters with fellow pilot Essara Till.[1] The droid stood at 1.91 meters,[2] wore a chef's hat, and utilized a spatula.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

BBQ droid first appeared in the 2001 video game Star Wars: Starfighter, developed by LucasArts.[1] He was first identified in the "State of the Arts" section in the fourth issue of the Star Wars Gamer magazine,[3] released on June 19, 2001.[7] The droid acts as an Easter egg in Starfighter and can be seen by entering the code DIRECTOR into the game's code menu, before starting the Fighter Training bonus mission.[1]
