"Balancing the Books" is a short narrative story published in The Star Wars Sourcebook in 1987. Presented as an in-universe memo, Calk Fen reports on the amount of credits that Han Solo now owes to Jabba the Hutt. It was reprinted in the second edition of the book in 1994, and later online as part of Hyperspace: The Official Star Wars Fan Club.

Plot summary
