Baroonda was a terrestial planet with oceans and forests that hosted the podracing event Fire Mountain Rally. During the Imperial Era, the Sith Lord Darth Vader raced against several Stormtroopers of the Galactic Empire in an edition of the Rally. Rebel Alliance forces tried to disrupt the race to avoid the Empire discovering a secret Rebel base on the planet. After Vader's podracer was shot with a blaster rifle and came to a halt, several stormtroopers finished before Vader. This enraged the Sith Lord and caused him to leave Baroonda along with his troops.
Description[]
Baroonda was a terrestial planet that was comprised of oceans, forests and beaches with palm trees.[1]
History[]
During the Imperial Era, Baroonda served as the location of the legendary podracing event Fire Mountain Rally, where the participants would race through the terrain and over the oceans of Baroonda. In one edition of the race, the Sith Lord Darth Vader travelled to Baroonda to race against several of his Imperial Stormtroopers. After being notified of the Empire's presence on the planet, Rebel Alliance members Lando Calrissian, Leia Organa and Chewbacca worried about the Empire discovering a secret Rebel base, which was located near the race track. Lando devised a plan and ordered the Rebels to disrupt the race to make the Empire leave the planet. Leia released several Varactyls onto the track, which caused Vader's podracer to scratch against a rock. When one of the Stormtroopers managed to take the lead, Vader used the Force to let a palm tree crash into the Trooper's podracer and destroy it. He later destroyed another racer by throwing a brick into its engine. As the Sith Lord reached the final turn, Lando Calrissian shot at one of his engines with a blaster rifle, which caused Vader's podracer to come to a halt. Several Stormtroopers then raced across the finish line, which enraged Vader and caused him to leave Baroonda together with his troops.[1]
