"General Chiata, our forces have inflicted heavy damage to the Separatist Dreadnought. Unfortunately, the same is true for our vessel. Despite the damage, I recommend we see this through… together. You know I'm not going to back down from a fight."
―Clone Commander[1]

In 19 BBY, during the Clone Wars, a battle was fought between a Galactic Republic Venator-class Star Destroyer commanded by Jedi General Chiata, and a Separatist Alliance dreadnought. Although the battle saw the destruction of the dreadnought, Chiata's Star Destroyer had sustained heavy damage in the fighting, which caused it to crash on the planet Zeffo after dropping out of hyperspace.

However, the crew of the Star Destroyer managed to survive the crash, but the Jedi General was separated from her Padawan, Jedi Commander Marseph, which forced her clone troopers to search for him. Amid their search, the Clone Commander and his troopers received Order 66, which resulted in an attack on Chiata and her Padawan. All the clone troopers were killed by the Jedi, both of whom eventually succumbed to their own wounds.

The battle[]

In 19 BBY,[2] during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems, Jedi General Chiata and her Padawan, Jedi Commander Marseph, were stationed aboard a Venator-class Star Destroyer alongside a unit of clone troopers led by a Clone Commander. While stationed aboard the vessel, the Star Destroyer had engaged with a Separatist dreadnought, resulting in heavy damage to the Venator and the destruction of the dreadnought.[1]

Aftermath[]

Chiata's Star Destroyer suffered extensive damage during the battle with the dreadnought and afterward crash landed on the planet Zeffo in the Outer Rim Territories upon exiting hyperspace. In the crash, Marseph became separated from his master, which forced Chiata's clone troopers, including the Clone Commander, to search for him.[1]

However, amid their search, the entire Republic unit had received a transmission from Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, who ordered the Clone Commander to execute Order 66. As a result, Chiata's unit began to attack the Jedi General and the Padawan, forcing both Jedi to fight off their attackers, resulting in the deaths of many clone troopers. During the fighting, both Jedi were injured, with Chiata dying and Marseph following as he succumbed to his wounds after burying his master.[1]

  2. 2.0 2.1 Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, including Order 66, the outbreak of the Great Jedi Purge, to 19 BBY. As the skirmish on Zeffo was a result of Order 66 and succeeds the battle between the forces of Jedi General Chiata and a Separatist dreadnought, this event must have also taken place in 19 BBY.
