- "More than five millennia ago the Denarii Nova exploded, ripping through these stars and reducing them to cinders. The powerful Sith sorcerer Naga Sadow caused this cataclysmic event to gain his freedom from pursuing Republic warships. With the extravagant power of the dark side, Naga Sadow tore these two stars apart and used giant flares like two slapping hands to crush the fleet behind him."
- ―Brakiss, to Zekk
The battle at the Denarii Nova was fought in the Denarii system at the end of the Great Hyperspace War in 5000 BBY.[2]
The battle[]
- "Those flares… the explosions… Naga Sadow must have been destroyed."
"Recall what's left of our fleet. Let's go home. We've lost enough ships today in this cursed empire." - ―Jori Daragon and Empress Teta
Following his defeat at Korriban,[1] the Dark Lord of the Sith Naga Sadow set course for the Denarii system[2] aboard his Derriphan-class battleship,[4] the Corsair.[5] Pursued by Galactic Republic forces, Sadow maneuvered his damaged flagship between the binary stars of the Denarii Nova. The Sith sorcerer then used his powers to manipulate the solar flares of the Denarii Nova. The resulting explosion destroyed the Republic ships in his wake and allowed him to stage his own death.[1]
This cataclysmic event also resulted in the destruction of the entire system,[3] which created a nebula of highly ionized gases known as the Denarii Nebula.[2]
In the aftermath of the battle, Sadow, his Sith followers, and his Massassi crew settled on the jungle moon Yavin 4.[1]
