"In 4017 BBY, Crusaders appeared in the Core Worlds, waging war against the inhabitants of Basilisk."
Vilnau Teupt[1]

The Battle of Basilisk was fought during the early days of the Great Sith War.

The battle[]

"The Basiliskans, however, proved to be formidable foes. Some even earned the respect of the Mandalorian invaders through their determination and willingness to fight. But the resistance was not enough, even with Republic and Jedi reinforcements. Ultimately, the Basiliskans were no match against the relentless onslaught dispatched by the Mandalorian Crusaders...."
Tython Jedi Archives historical account[4]

On the world of Basilisk, the Mandalorians began their holy crusade against the Basiliskans. Even with Republic reinforcements, the Basiliskans were outmatched and poisoned their own planet in a last ditch effort to drive away the invaders.

Aftermath[]

Planet08-SWR

The planet Basilisk after its devastation.

The Mandalorians abandoned the planet, but succeeded in capturing a large group of Basiliskans. These creatures would later become the Lagartoz War Dragons. The battle claimed the life of Jedi Master Sidrona Diath. The Mandalorians would eventually move from Basilisk to the planet of Kuar, where Mandalore the Indomitable later dueled the Jedi Ulic Qel-Droma.

Behind the scenes[]

The Essential Atlas placed the invasion of Basilisk in 3997 BBY, during the Great Sith War but The Essential Guide to Warfare shifted it 20 years earlier, in 4,017 BBY.

The in-game encyclopedia entry for Basilisk in the PC game Star Wars: Rebellion mistakenly states that Sidrona Diath was killed by the Sith.
