During the Galactic Civil War between the Rebel Alliance and Galactic Empire, the Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry fought a battle against the Empire in the canyons of the astronomical object Xagobah[1] in 3 ABY.[2] The battle came as part of Operation Ringbreaker, where the 61st targeted a number of soft Imperial targets to force military redeployments from the Empire's Kuat Drive Yards to weaken its security for a final attack.[1]
The 61st secured a victory, sustaining some casualties between that conflict and one fought on the[1] planet[3] Naator. The rebel unit, however, did not ultimately complete Operation Ringbreaker.[1] When the campaign was examined by the Rebel Alliance Intelligence Service, General Crix Madine listed Xagobah among the targets in a report on Operation Ringbreaker's first phase, which was later included among an archive of non-electric documents called The Rebel Files by archivist Hendri Underholt.[4]
Behind the scenes[]
The battle of Xagobah was first mentioned in the 2015 novel Battlefront: Twilight Company, written by Alexander Freed.[1]
