The title of this article is conjectural.

Although this article is based on official information from the Star Wars Legends continuity, the actual name of this subject is pure conjecture.

"The Rebels are unprepared for our attack."
―Darth Vader[5]

The Battle of the Rebel stronghold was a battle in the Galactic Civil War that took place in 3 ABY. It resulted in the destruction of the Rebel stronghold.

Prelude[]

"The Empire is on the verge of success. Soon, peace and order will be restored throughout the Galaxy. Even now, our capable forces, led by Darth Vader, are striking back against the Rebel insurgents."
―Palpatine on the progress of the battle[5]

Sith Lord Darth Vader was searching the Outer Rim for Rebel Alliance activity. Upon finding a stronghold he signaled Vice Admiral Thrawn to launch his TIE Squadrons at once, knowing full well that the Rebels had no preparation for their attack.

Around the same time, Emperor Palpatine made an announcement regarding the nearing victory of the Galactic Empire, citing Vader's progress in tracking down Rebel insurgents as testament to this.

Battle[]

"This rebel stronghold has no hopes of escaping. Commence the attack."
"Yes, sir.
"
―Vice Admiral Thrawn and an Imperial officer[5]

Upon arriving at the stronghold, Thrawn ordered them to commence the attack, knowing full well the rebels had no hopes of escaping.

The Rebel forces were not able to hold off the Imperial forces and the station was destroyed. Two fighters tried to escape but to no avail as two TIE Interceptors pursued them and shot them down.

The rebel station is destroyed.

Aftermath[]

Details of what happened afterward are sketchy at best, but what was indeed clear was that the Imperials would now have a foothold in that sector.

Behind the scenes[]

The battle takes place as the plot summary of the Intro Scene for the game. The station has never been named.

The Intro scene has 2 different versions; the first version consisted of a short battle that showed an attack run on a parked X-wing by 3 TIE Interceptors while a turret tries to shoot them down unsuccessfully. The cutscene then shows the station continually exploding to the point where one of the bays then separates from the station while exploding, the two fighters that try to escape are two X-wings.

In the Collector's edition, the attack run made by the Interceptors is done at a distance, then a TIE Bomber makes a bombing run on the X-wing with the Turret, firing different projectiles at the bomber. The station explodes at least once or twice, nothing more, and the two fighters in question that try to escape are an X-wing and an A-wing.

Since the book places the final mission of the game's Collector's CD-ROM also in 3 ABY, the rest of the game and its expansions must also take place in that year.
