- "So, we're going to Nevarro?"
"Have you ever been?"
"No. We lost a lot of our forces there. The city's dug in pretty deep. No cover when you drop in. It stayed in Empire control 'till the end of the war." - ―Carasynthia Dune and Din Djarin
At some point between 0 BBY and 5 ABY,[2] a battle took place on[1] the planet[3] Nevarro during the Galactic Civil War. In the battle, Rebel Alliance forces landed on the planet's surface and fought with forces of the Galactic Empire, making their way to the planet's city. Due to the city being located deep within the terrain of Nevarro, which provided no viable cover, the rebels suffered heavy casualties. This allowed the Empire to retain control of the planet until the end of the war[1] in 5 ABY,[2] though an Imperial remnant operated on Nevarro after the war's end.[1] Around 9 ABY,[4] the Mandalorian[1] Din Djarin[3] asked the former rebel shock trooper Cara Dune if she had ever been to Nevarro while the two were travelling to the planet. Dune detailed the history of the battle while revealing she had never visited the planet before.[1]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The battle on Nevarro was mentioned in "Chapter 7: The Reckoning," the seventh episode of Jon Favreau's 2019 Disney+ live-action series The Mandalorian.[1] The episode aired on December 18, 2019.[5]

SWCC 2019: 9 Things We Learned from The Mandalorian Panel on StarWars.com (backup link) establishes that The Mandalorian is set about five years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, which Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates to 4 ABY. Therefore, the events of the series' "Chapter 7: The Reckoning," including Din Djarin and Carasynthia Dune's journey to Nevarro, must have taken place around 9 ABY.
