- "Fix bayonets!"
- ―An order sometimes given by Rebel commanders
A bayonet was a sharp blade that could be mounted on the end of a blaster rifle or other long-barreled rifle. This allowed the wielder to use the rifle in close combat as a spear-like melee weapon.
Description[]
Bayonets were knives that could be attached to rifle barrels by a variety of methods. Designed to be a last-ditch close-combat weapon for soldiers, the bayonet was considered to be a more ceremonial weapon by modern armies.[3] A bayonet detached from a rifle could be used as a simple knife.[1] The vibrobayonet was an enhanced version of this weapon.[4]
History[]
The Rodian hunter Harno used such a weapon, as did the bounty hunter Mist. Other users included Republic troopers of the Old Republic,[2] Trandoshan Bounty Hunters,[5] and members of Kota's Militia.[6]
In a few notable instances, Rebel commanders ordered their troops to "fix bayonets!" to signal a determination to go down fighting in a desperate situation. The order was given despite knowing that using the bayonets was not considered to be very effective.[3]
