Begali was a celestial body[2] located in the Begali system of the Inner Rim.[1] By 1154 BBY, Begali was affiliated with the Six Sisters, a group of worlds governed by the confederation known as the Echani Command. That year, Begali launched a rebellion,[2] known as the Begali Uprising,[3] against the Six Sisters, severing its ties with one of them, Eshan, and allying itself with the world Thyrsus. Less than a century later, however, Begali renewed its ties with Eshan, although Thyrsus remained independent of the Echani Command.[2]
Behind the scenes[]

Map placement of Begali in Voyages SF 13
The name "Begali" was introduced via a mention of the Begali Uprising in Greg Gorden's 1989 Imperial Sourcebook that was published by West End Games for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[4] "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," a 1990 roleplaying game source article published in the thirteenth issue of the Voyages SF magazine subsequently described Begali as a distinct celestial body. Since that article was released outside of the Lucas Licensing process, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity was never confirmed.[5]
"Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are" placed Begali, as well as the Columus, Grehollo, Jedd, Jerijador, Kaelta, Nosken, and Tsukkia system, in the Grehollo sector.[5] The StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas has since instead placed the Grehollo, Jerijador, Kaelta, Nosken, and Tsukkia systems in other sectors. Furthermore, since the Online Companion has also placed the Begali, Columus, and Jedd systems each in a different galactic region—with the Begali system being situated in grid square M-8—this article assumes the Voyages SF 13 placement is no longer applicable to any of the systems listed here.[1]
A section was created for the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare, authored by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart, which would have provided the first unambiguously canonical description of Begali as a distinct astronomical object in Star Wars Legends. Although the section was cut from the book, it was later released in 2013 as part of Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare Author's Cut, a series of articles published on the StarWars.com Blog by Fry and[2] Del Rey editor[6] Erich Schoeneweiss containing various cut content from the book.[2]
