"Niner, Bel…look after the ships."
"Yes, sir."
―CC-3714 — (audio) Listen (file info)[3]

Bel was a clone trooper who served in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. As a member of Clone Commander Fil's squad, Bel accompanied recently promoted Jedi Knight Nahdar Vebb during a mission to the third moon of Vassek in 22 BBY to capture Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray. Before the group entered a castle on the moon belonging to the Confederate General Grievous in search of Gunray, Fil paired Bel with fellow trooper Niner and ordered both to stay outside and patrol the clones' shuttle. Eventually, Fil ordered Bel and Niner to contact the Republic fleet for more clone trooper reinforcements. While the clone troopers boarded the vehicle, one of Grievous' MagnaGuards used a missile launcher to destroy the Republic shuttle, killing Bel and Niner.

Bel was the name of a clone trooper[3] who was born on the planet Kamino to serve in the Grand Army of the Republic. Sometime in 22 BBY, during the Clone Wars,[2] Bel served under Clone Commander Fil during a mission to the third moon of Vassek. The mission's objective was to capture Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray, who had recently been rescued from Republic captivity.[3]

Bel accompanied recently promoted Jedi Knight Nahdar Vebb, who was leading the mission with Fil. The squad waited for Vebb's former Jedi Master, Kit Fisto, before entering a nearby castle belonging to the Confederate General Grievous, in pursuit of Gunray. Fil paired Bel with fellow trooper Niner and ordered both to stay behind and watch after their Nu-class attack shuttle. After Fisto's astromech droid, R6-H5, tracked an approaching starfighter that resembled Grievous' starship, Bel and Niner contacted Fisto, who was inside the castle, to alert the group. Eventually, Bel and Niner received a transmission from Fil inside the castle, telling both clone troopers to contact the Republic fleet near the Inner Rim planet of Bestine for more clone trooper reinforcements. Unbeknownst to the clones, one of Grievous' IG-100 MagnaGuards had spotted them. As Bel and Niner entered the shuttle to contact the fleet, the MagnaGuard used a missile launcher to destroy the shuttle, killing Bel and Niner.[3]

Personality and traits[]

As a clone of Jango Fett,[5] Bel stood 1.83 meters tall.[1] He wore standard Phase I clone trooper armor that sported red markings, and also used a DC-15A blaster rifle. On the third moon of Vassek, Bel obeyed the orders given to him by his squad leader, Commander Fil.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Bel was first featured in "Lair of Grievous," the tenth episode in the first season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, which aired on December 12, 2008. The character was voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, who voices all of the clone troopers in the series.[6] Bel's name was misspelled as "Bell" in the Season One Episode Guide included in Star Wars Insider 106.[7]
