Bellassan peppers were a type of pepper[1] that shared its name with the celestial body Bellassa.[2] They were edible by Chagrians and were sometimes chilled before serving.[1]

In 3 ABY,[3] during an interview with[1] journalist[4] Tracene Kane for HoloNet news' Queen of the Core Network, senior Imperial advisor Mas Amedda ate chilled Bellassan peppers, and as the interview progressed, servers cleared plates of the peppers away from the advisor's table.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Bellassan peppers were introduced in the current Star Wars canon via mention in Star Wars: The Rebel Files, a 2017 reference book by Daniel Wallace.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Bellassan peppers were mentioned in the 2009 StarWars.com Hyperspace article "Dining at Dex's," written by Gregory Walker as an in-universe menu.[5]
