The Bespin Government Center was a conical building on Cloud City, a floating city in the gas giant Bespin. The Center was constructed by the Rebel Alliance and was guarded by rebel troopers along with Cloud City militants and police forces. The city's Baron Administrator Lando Calrissian and his assistant Lobot were also in the vicinity when the Center was destroyed by order of the Sith Lord Darth Vader in 3 ABY by elements of the Imperial Military. The Center was later replaced by an Imperial Palace, marking the end of fighting in the occupation of Bespin.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The Bespin Government Center appears in the 2001 video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds during the sixth mission and first bonus mission of the Darth Vader campaign titled "Cloud City Attack." The campaign is also included in the game's 2002 expansion pack Clone Campaigns.[2] The player must destroy it and build an Imperial Monument in its place to win the mission. The game's Prima strategy guide, released a week before the game, does not refer to it by its name, but rather as the "Rebel monument."[3]
