"Beyond Hope" is a short story that was published in the 2020 anthology book From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back. It was written by Michael Moreci and focuses on Private Emon Kref.

According to the author Michael Moreci, he took inspiration from canon war-based stories by Alexander Freed, Battlefront: Twilight Company being Moreci's favorite as it gave a look into "grunts" on the ground who had different perspectives of the events of the Star Wars saga. The author apparently tabled these ideas with the rebel trench warfare on Hoth.[2]
