Bibs was a Bravaisian Jedi Padawan who lived during the High Republic Era. A member of the class of Padawans training aboard the Star Hopper, Bibs was, along with the rest of the class, dispatched to aid Trymant IV when it fell under threat from the Great Hyperspace Disaster.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
Bibs first appeared in the first issue of the Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures comic series. The issue was written by Daniel José Older, illustrated by Harvey Tolibao, and released by IDW Publishing[3] on February 3, 2021.[6]
Cole Horton's reference book Star Wars: The High Republic: Chronicles of the Jedi,[5] released on March 21, 2023,[7] uses "they/them" pronouns for Bibs.[5] Megan Crouse and Amy Richau's reference book Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia,[4] released on December 5 of the same year,[8] uses "he/him" pronouns in the character's entry.[4] Older, the author who created[9] and first introduced Bibs into the Star Wars canon,[3] was unaware of the differences between the publications.[10] The author noted that the character had been created with[9] and used "he/him" in scripts until that point, but surmised that the inclusion of both in sources could meant that Bibs went by "he/they" pronouns in canon.[10] Older then indicated that he felt the best way to think of the Bibs was to use "he/they" pronouns when referring to them.[9]
