"They say I'm the worst kind of pirate, ambushing unarmed ships to steal their cargoes. I say that's the best kind of pirate."
Kath Scarlet[4]

The Binayre Pirates were a band of pirates and smugglers that operated within the Corellian sector during the Galactic Civil War.

Description[]

"Have you seen those guys!? They'd kill us! Uhh, I mean, they'd kill us if we - if we showed up without weapons!"
―A commoner, to a spacer[5]

The pirates made use of Z-95-AF4 Headhunters.

The Binayre Pirates operated in the Corellian sector[1] and were led by Captain Kath Scarlet.[2] The Binayre maintained two home bases on the twin worlds Talus and Tralus, and were among the lowest criminal elements on those worlds.[1] They were looked down upon as disreputable and untrustworthy even by other criminals.[6] Several of them wore the insignia of Black Sun.[2] On Talus, they operated from their bunker.[3] The Binayre Pirates were tracked by the Corellian Security Force and the Federation of the Double Worlds, and they were also in open conflict with the Aa'kuan anarchist.[7] After the Battle of Yavin, the Binayre Pirates controlled several areas of space in the Corellian system, including the Binayre Razorcat,[8] the Trifecta Star and the Rayless Lantern.[9] In space battles, the pirates flew M3-A Scyk fighters[10] or Z-95-AF4 Headhunters.[11]

History[]

"Those Binyare will think twice before crossing the Empire again."
Ceth Laike, to an Imperial operative[12]
Binayre Swindler

A Binayre swindler.

In 1 ABY,[13] a commoner in the city of Dearic provided the coordinates of the Binayre Pirate Bunker on Talus to a spacer brave enough to visit it.[5] Later, Jabba the Hutt's bounty hunter Bronell dispatched a spacer to the Talusian pirate bunker in order to retrieve information about a CorSec officer who owned money to Jabba, as well as to the pirates.[14]

The same year, an Imperial TIE bomber crash-landed on Talus during a battle between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance. Although the Empire quickly dispatched a rescue ream, the first to find the crash site were a group of Binayre scalawags.[12] Looking for ship parts to salvage,[15] the criminals assassinated the Imperial pilot on the spot. The Binayres then attacked the group of Imperial operatives sent to rescue the pilot but they were all killed. The Imperial later reported to Imperial Officer Ceth Laike. In retaliation, the officer ordered the Imperial operatives to strike at several criminal and pirate groups in the Corellian system. On Talus, the operatives assaulted a Binayre camp and killed 15 of them. Then, Imperial pilots attacked a group of Binayre starfighters in Corellian space. All pirate vessels were destroyed and the Binayre leader "Black Jack" MacDougal was killed in the battle.[12] Troops of the Imperial 419th Infantry were also involved in actions against Binayre Pirates.[16]

Around the same time, Kath Scarlet and a group of Binayres pirates struggled on Talus against a spacer and an Imperial Security Bureau team led by Jeffren Brek for the control of the Z-95 Headhunter Dire Hound.[17]

  13. The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
