During the Clone Wars, the Black Sun criminal organization maintained a fortress on the volcanic planet of Mustafar in the Outer Rim. The leader of the faction, Xomit Grunseit, maintained a battalion of guards, led by his Captain of the Guard, Ziton Moj.

In 20 BBY, the facility would be discovered by Sith Lords Darth Maul and Savage Opress, along with Pre Vizsla and his Death Watch forces. Maul, forming a Shadow Collective, attempted to rally the Black Sun to their cause. Grunseit refused, and as a result, Opress killed him. Moj, meanwhile, joined Maul.
