By 0 BBY,[3] the Galactic Empire had blockaded the world of Kubindi and enslaved its native Kubaz species[2] at some point after the declaration of the Rebel Alliance.[1] Imperial Kubaz spy Garindan ezz Zavor visited Kubindi while Imperial forces orbited the planet, and fled after seeing the Empire's firepower over the world. Determined to liberate his homeland, Garindan purchased codes to get through the blockade and obtained enough credits to hire a starship to take him to Kubindi.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

The blockade was first mentioned in the short story The Secrets of Long Snoot written by Delilah S. Dawson[2] and included in the 2017[4] novel From a Certain Point of View.[2]

As "The Secrets of Long Snoot" — From a Certain Point of View establishes that the blockade of Kubindi began prior to the mission, it had started by that year.
