Blue Squadron was an RZ-1 A-wing interceptor squadron serving the New Republic Defense Fleet under the command of General Edor Crespin. The squadron's starfighters were used as support for Wraith Squadron during the Galactic Civil War.

Description[edit | edit source]

Blue Squadron was initially comprised of rookie A-wing pilots who flew fighters painted white with blue stripes marked with white triangles. The squadron's fighters were outfitted with advanced targeting and defensive systems and armed with proton torpedos, making up for the minimal shielding the fighters were equipped with.[2]

History[edit | edit source]

During the Galactic Civil War, Blue Squadron underwent training at Folor Base alongside Wraith Squadron. Led by Edor Crespin of the New Republic Defense Fleet, the squadron assisted Wraith Squadron both offensively and defensively against the Galactic Empire.[1]

Battle of Ession[edit | edit source]

The squadron assisted the Wraiths with A-wings interceptor support in the sneak attack on the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Implacable. Under the command of General Crespin, the attack was a success, resulting in very few losses in Blue Squadron.[1]

Battle of Folor[edit | edit source]

Blue Squadron assisted in the retreat from Folor Base. The squadron was utilized to defend the evacuation of Mon Calamari cruisers from the reborn Emperor's World Devastators on Dac in 10 ABY during the battle. It was unknown how many, if any, of the pilots that were present at the Battle of Yavin or the Battle of Endor were on the roster at Mon Calamari.[1]

Battle of Almania[edit | edit source]

In 17 ABY, Blue Squadron was able to participate in the Battle of Almania while other X-wing squadrons were grounded due to being sabotaged with astromech droids armed with explosives.[3]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Blue Squadron's A-wing starfighters were first pictured when they were represented with a miniature featuring the art of Ralph McQuarrie in the initial release of the Star Wars PocketModel TCG in June 19, 2007.[2]
