- "But of all the portable provisions to partake of, none were quite as delightful as the sweet, sticky bolus nuts. On Jedha, they were served on sticks, but I prefer these crunchy little treats by the bowlful. Get your mitts on some of these, and I guarantee your future will be bright!"
- ―Strono Tuggs, The Life Day Cookbook
Bolus nuts were a type of nut[1] that were sticky, crunchy, and sweet.[2] During the Reflection Day festival in Jedha City on[2] the moon[3] Jedha, they were sold as portable snacks on wooden sticks from food stalls[1] that were set up throughout the city on Reflection Eve.[2] Bolus nuts were available during the Reflection Day festivities in the year that the traveler Zallo Blaak visited Jedha City, at some point prior[1] to the city's destruction[4] in 0 BBY.[5]
After publishing his first cookbook[2] in 34 ABY,[6] the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs included a recipe for bolus nuts in his second cookbook, The Life Day Cookbook. Tuggs described the nuts as the most delightful of the foods available on Jedha during Reflection Day but stated that he preferred to serve them in a bowl than on sticks.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
Bolus nuts first appeared in "Reflection Day," a short story published[1] on September 7, 2021[7] in the Life Day Treasury, a collection of short stories written by George Mann and Cavan Scott.[1] The recipe book Star Wars: The Life Day Cookbook, authored by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak[2] and published on November 9 of that same year,[8] provided an out-of-universe recipe for the nuts. The ingredients are an egg white, almonds, vanilla extract, packed light brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt.[2]

- ↑ Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook establishes that the in-universe book was published at the same time as when the First Order was searching for the Resistance base on Batuu. As that search occurs in Galaxy's Edge: Black Spire, which is set in 34 ABY according to the reasoning here, the cookbook must have been published in 34 ABY.
