Bordoks were a species of sure-footed equine herbivores native to the forest moon Endor. Since the bordoks could carry large loads relative to their small size, the sentient Ewoks used them as both pack animals and mounts.
Biology and appearance[]
An equine species,[1] the bordoks were related to other riding beasts from across the galaxy, including pulgas, fathiers, orbaks, and tris.[3] They were sure-footed creatures capable of carrying large loads relative to their small size.[1]
Behavior[]
Bordoks were noted for having a friendly behavior, and were domesticable.[2] They had a herbivorous diet,[1] feeding on plants.[4]
History[]
The bordoks evolved on Endor, a forested moon[2] that orbitted a planet of the same name, in the Moddell sector of the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories.[3] The Ewoks, a race of diminutive sentients that also originated on Endor, domesticated the bordoks, using them as both pack animals and mounts. Although bordoks were strong for their size, the Ewoks sometimes favored the much larger and stronger blurrgs, a species of bipedal reptiles, for heavy work.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
A bordok first appeared in the Star Wars Legends storybook Wicket Finds a Way: An Ewok Adventure, which was written by Melinda Luke and released in 1984. The species was confirmed to be canon when it received mention in the sourcebook Ultimate Star Wars, released in 2015.
