"All you have to do is get it out of my vault. The vault security needs to be tested anyway. Good luck!"
Borvo, to a spacer[1]

Borvo's Vault was an underground facility located a short distance south of the city of Moenia in the Paitnnu Wetlands on the Mid Rim world of Naboo.[1]

History[]

"I defeated the security in your vault."
"I don't believe it! You got through the security? Maybe my hints were too helpful. Well, I owe Jabba 10,000 credits. He told me you'd pull it off. I guess I should have believed him."
―A spacer and Borvo the Hutt[1]

The interior of Borvo's Vault.

During the time of the Galactic Civil War, sometime following the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY, Borvo the Hutt of the Nal Raka Criminal Empire used the compound as vault to store various valuables, including blasters and droid parts. The entrance to the vault was guarded by one of Borvo's dimwitted lackeys. The interior was defended by blastromech droids, B1 and B2 battle droids, IG assassin droids and Murras. To further aid in the security of his vault, Borvo also kept a pet acklay and rancor within the confines of the vault's interior.[1]

In 1 ABY,[2] a spacer managed to compromise the security of the vault to retrieve an Old Republic decentralized autonomy chip droid module. When the spacer reported the news to Borvo, he was incredulous, and remarked that he now owed Jabba Desilijic Tiure 10,000 credits for a bet.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Borvo's Vault was a location in the 2003 massively multiplayer online roleplaying game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided,[1] prior to the game's closure on December 15, 2011.[3] Borvo's Vault was added to the game as part of the "Legacy Quest" with the release of the "Publish 25", a.k.a. the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.[4]

  2. According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
