- "Tuomi represents five inhabited planets and nearly a billion citizens. Why should Alderaan rule Bosch, he asks."
- ―Leia Organa to Gial Ackbar
The Bosch system was a part of the Core Worlds. Between 16 ABY and 17 ABY, it, as well as a total of five inhabited planets and approximately one billion citizens, was represented in the New Republic Senate by Senator Tuomi. While challenging the authority of the New Republic's Chief of State Leia Organa, Tuomi rhetorically asked why should the former inhabitants of Organa's homeworld, the Alderaan system's destroyed planet Alderaan, have the same voting rights in the Senate as the Bosch system. In a discussion with Organa, however, New Republic Supreme Commander Gial Ackbar reassured her, proclaiming that Tuomi was only an "ignorant fingerling."
Behind the scenes
The name "Bosch" was introduced in the 1996 novel Shield of Lies, authored by Michael P. Kube-McDowell as the second installment in The Black Fleet Crisis Trilogy. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, first identified it as a star system and placed it in grid square K-10.
