Bothan Nether Rot was a disease that affected most humanoid species, causing a purple-green skin discoloration around the upper legs. By the time of the Cold War between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic, a cure had not been found for the disease, and the combat medic Doc decided that the disease was not worth his time while searching for a disease to cure.[1]

Bothan Nether Rot was first mentioned in the 2011 video game Star Wars: The Old Republic by BioWare, during the conversation "Looking for a Cure" with the Jedi Knight companion character Doc.[1] It also appears in the Smuggler mission "Identity Crisis", where one of the options presented to the player is to have the slicer Kixiaralu edit the records of the smuggler's rival Skavak so that he will be unable to pick up women. Kixi then edits Skavak's records to state that he is a carrier of Bothan Nether Rot. The name of the disease is the same as that of the Bothan species, though it was never confirmed to be related to them.[2]
