Boz Vega was a Dowutin male who worked as an announcer at the Grand Arena on Vespaara together with L-X1. Viewers of the Hunters of the Outer Rim competition holonet feeds seemed to really enjoy the commentary of he and L-X1. Vega regularly interviewed Hunters for his Arena News segment, "Interview with Boz."
Biography[]
Before he became an announcer for Hunters of the Outer Rim, Vega had a rivalry with Hril the Great, the latter treating Vega like his personal punching bag.[2]
Eventually Vega joined the Hunters of the Outer Rim, a combat-based competition, run by Balada the Hutt and Daq Dragus, in which contestants called "Hunters" would compete for glory at the Grand Arena on Vespaara. Vega became an announcer and commentator alongside L-X1. Aside from being an announcer, Vega also had his own segment in the Arena News, titled "Interview with Boz," where he would post transcripts of his interviews with various Hunters.[3]

Rieve storms out after knocking Boz Vega over.
During an interview with Rieve, a Hunter who had adopted the persona of a Sith Lord, Vega tried to turn the subject from Rieve's love of gonkrock to rumors that she had challenged fellow Hunter, J-3DI, to a battle after he asked her to become his padawan. Enraged, Rieve used the Force and knocked Vega to the ground. Fumbling, Vega tried to turn the subject back to gonkrock, but it was too late; Rieve stormed out of the interview. [4]
Vega sat down for an interview with Mandalorian warrior Aran Tal, whose braggadocious responses and zeal for his homeworld of Mandalore threw him off. Vega accidentally referred to Tal as a bounty hunter, deeply offending the Mandalorian, who regarded bounty hunters as "scum." The two quibbled over the differences between mercenary work and bounty hunter work, and Tal left in a huff.[5]
The next Hunter that Vega interviewed was former bounty hunter Imara Vex, who was indignant and insulted by Aran Tal's comments. Vex steamrolled over Vega as she insulted Tal right back and called him out as a blowhard and a hypocrite.[6]
Boz Vega would interview new Hunter K-A0S, a KX-series security droid, when she joined the Hunters. K-A0S's literalism and cold personality threw Vega somewhat off-balance, but K-A0S did confirm that she had joined the Hunters primarily to take revenge on another Hunter, the Wookiee Grozz, revealing that it was because of Grozz that she had had to replace her original arms with riot shield, and furthermore, that Grozz had kept her arms as trophies, and used them as clubs. As the interview ended, K-A0S, misinterpreting Vega's muttered comment to "not let the door hit you on the way out," blasted through the door with her shoulder-mounted blaster, and exited through the resulting hole.[7]
To get Grozz's side of the feud with K-A0S, Vega hosted the Wookiee in an interview, translated by fellow Zaina. Grozz was reluctant to comment on K-A0S, so the topic turned to Huttball, Grozz's former sport of choice. When Vega brought up a rumor that Grozz pulled off K-A0S's arms because she stole his favorite Huttball club, Grozz grew annoyed and stormed off through the hole in the door that K-A05 had blasted earlier.[8]
When the Ewok Hunter Pilbush arrived at the Arena, a heated animosity flared up between her and Sentinel, a Stormtrooper Hunter and fierce Imperial loyalist. Vega sat down with Sentinel to discuss the conflict. Sentinel was heated, and constantly insulted the Ewok. Vega tried to calm him down, but Sentinel raged off, knocking a hot cup of caf onto Vega's lap.[9]
Boz Vega's next interviewee was Nox, a Zabrak from Iridonia who was the Arena's latest addition. Vega welcomed her, but was put off when she suggested that being a Hunter would be less exciting than her previous profession, which she explained was a Night Wind Assassin. Vega seized on her assassin background, comparing her to Rieve, which Nox scoffed at. At Vega's prompting, Nox explained her battle strategy and weaponry. Her casual description of the destruction of her village and the kidnapping of her sister left Vega unnerved as the interview came to its end.[3]
Nox and Rieve eventually went head-to-head in an Arena Clash, in which Nox was victorious. Boz Vega interviewed her after the Clash. Nox admitted that it was a good fight, but claimed to be the true assassin of the Arena, and dismissed the idea of friendship with her colleagues. Vega found this position to be rather lonely, but decided not to judge.[10]
When the Coruscanti Kubaz Glikkin joined the Hunters, it was L-X1 who sat down with him for an interview. Towards the end of the interview, Vega entered the room with a cup of caf in his favorite mug to see how the interview was going. Glikkin turned invisible with his optical dephaser, stole Vega's mug as part of an ongoing scavenger hunt, and left. Vega lamented leaving his announcer booth.[11]
Behind the scenes[]
- "We have Boz Vega, who's a former sportsman himself, and you'll notice his Hall of Fame rings in the trailer. He's our color commentator, very enthusiastic. He's loud, he's a big guy. He's larger than Grozz, a Wookiee and our biggest character, but he's very friendly and very excitable."
- ―Art Director Dominic Estephane

Boz Vega was first visually depicted through a sticker in Star Wars: Hunters.
Boz Vega first appeared in the video game Star Wars: Hunters, which was developed by NaturalMotion's BossAlien[1] and initially published by Zynga on November 16, 2021 as a soft launch[13] before the global release on June 4, 2024.[14] Vega initially can only be heard during gameplay, though he later received a visual depiction in update 0.18.0 through a sticker cosmetic,[1] which released on September 13, 2023.[15] The Dowutin was designed by concept artist Julia Guljar.[16]
