The Braha'tok was the a Braha'tok-class gunship in the Dornean Navy under the command of the of Kiles L'toth. In 4 BBY, during the height of the Galactic Civil War, Dornea loaned the Braha'tok, along with its sister ship the Torktarak, to the Alliance fleet for their attack on the Death Star II at Endor. The second Death Star was an Imperial superweapon that could destroy an entire planet. During the battle, the MC80 Liberty type Star Cruiser Liberty was destroyed by the second Death Star's superlaser. L'toth moved the Braha'tok into a defensive formation to cover rescue crafts trying to save survivors. While providing cover, the Braha'tok engaged the Carrack-class light cruiser Eminence, and with the help of the Torkatarak, was able to destroy the Eminence. However, the Braha'tok mantained extensive damage during battle, and after the Alliance's victory at Endor, it was shipped back to Dornea to serve as a war museum.

Description

The Braha'tok was a Braha'tok-class gunship in the Dornean Navy during the Galactic Civil War between the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the Galactic Empire. The Braha'tok was ninty meters long and was equipped with eight double turbolasers and eight concussion missiles. The Braha'tok had limited hangar space and had no ground troop complement. The ship came equipped with fire control, maneuvering, and command capabilities, all of which were centralized in the bridge.[1]

History

In 4 ABY, the Alliance fleet asked Dornea for battleships for their upcoming assault on the Death Star II,[1] an Imperial superweapon that could destroy an entire planet, which was still under construction while orbiting the forest moon of Endor.[2] Dornea decided to send the Braha'tok, under the command of Kiles L'toth, along with its sister ship, the Torktarak, under the command of Etahn A'baht. Since the Braha'tok-class gunships had no been outside of the space surrounding Dornea before 4 ABY, and so as to not arouse the suspicion of Imperial Intelligence, the Dornean government claimed that the two ships were undergoing a "shakedown cruise".[1]

Both the Braha'tok and the Torkatarak successfully met up with the Alliance fleet orbiting Sullust, which was under the command of the Mon Calamarian Admiral Ackbar. Both Braha'tok-class gunships left with the Alliance fleet for the Endor system.[1] However, when the Alliance fleet came out of hyperspace over Endor, they discovered that the shield protecting the second Death Star, which was supposed to have been taken down by a ground unit that had already landed on Endor, was still up. Also, the Alliance fleet was met by a large Imperial fleet under the command of Admiral Firmus Piett, and was subsequently caught in a trap that had been devised by Emperor Palpatine.[2]

The Alliance fleet, including the Braha'tok, engaged the Imperials. When the MC80 Liberty type Star Cruiser Liberty was destroyed by the Death Star's superlaser, L'toth moved the Braha'tok into a defensive formation to provide cover for the rescue shuttles picking up surviviors. While providing cover, the Braha'tok held off the Carrack-class cruiser Eminence, which was more than three times the size of the Braha'tok. The Braha'tok took extensive damage while engaging the Eminence, but was able to destroy the Imperial warship with the help of the Tokatarak, which attacked the Eminence from behind.[1]

After the Eminence was destroyed, the Tokatarak continued to provide cover for the damaged Braha'tok while it continued its seach-and-rescue mission.[1] The Alliance fleet would eventually destroy the second Death Star and win the battle when the superweapon's shields were finally disabled by the ground team on Endor.[2] Following the battle, Ackbar wished to scuttle the severely damaged Braha'tok. However, upon the insistence from the Dornean Navy, it was returned to Dornea to be converted into a war museum.[1]

Commanders and Crew

The Braha'tok had a crew of seventy-five Dronea navy personel, and was under the command of Kiles L'toth. After the Battle of Endor, L'toth retired from the Dornean navy when the Braha'tok was converted into a war museum.[1]

The Braha'tok was created in Ellos 137's winning entry in the StarWars.com Hyperspace feature, "What's the Story?". What's the Story allowed fans to provide the backstory for certain aspects of the saga, in this case, the Braha'tok-class gunships. Originally, Ello 137 the Braha'tok's name as a mythical Dornean name, but was unable to fit the this into his final entry.[3] The information on the Braha'tok from "Ello137's" entry was later used in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, for their entry on the Braha'tok-class gunship.

In Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, a Braha'tok-class gunship appears in the background during the space battle over Endor. However, the gunship has never been identified as either the Braha'tok or the Tokatarak.
