Bravo Squadron, also referred to as Bravo Flight, was a starfighter squadron of the Naboo Royal Space Fighter Corps during the last decades of the Galactic Republic.

History

"Bravo Flight A, attack the fighters! Flight B, make the run on the transmitter."
―Ric Olié giving orders during the Naboo Space Battle[src]
Bravo Squadron

Bravo Squadron enters orbit to attack the Trade Federation forces

Bravo Squadron was based on the planet Naboo in the Theed Hangar, located in the capital, Theed,[1] and was formed by King Ars Veruna as a symbol of Naboo's power.[4] The squadron participated in the Invasion of Naboo ten years before the Clone Wars.[5] Members of the squadron joined the Naboo Resistance, with at least two at a base in the Naboo training canyon.[6] During the final stages of the invasion, the pilots of Bravo Squadron engaged in dogfights with droid starfighter squadrons during the attack on the orbital Droid Control Ship Vuutun Palaa. Lieutenant Gavyn Sykes succeeded in damaging the deflector shield generator and tractor beams of the vessel, allowing Anakin Skywalker to destroy it from within with two proton torpedoes.[2]

Organization

The Queen chose her Honor Guard from the pilots of Bravo Squadron.[3] The squadron comprised Bravo Flight A and Bravo Flight B.[7] It was led by Ric Olié and consisted of N-1 starfighters. As part of the Naboo defense force, it was under the command of Captain Quarsh Panaka at the time of the invasion.[1] New pilots were trained in a canyon with hologram emitters.[6] Others were promoted in from Echo Flight.[8]

Bravo Squadron pilots

Behind the scenes

Bravo Squadron first appeared in 1999 with the release of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace and its various tie-ins.

Players take the role of Bravo Squadron pilot Gavyn Sykes in 2000's video game Star Wars: Episode I: Battle for Naboo. Star Wars: Starfighter, released in 2001, introduced Rhys Dallows as one of the playable characters.

Bravo Squadron was re-imagined in LEGO form in 2005 with LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game and appeared in the 2007 compilation. In the compilation, players take the role of Anakin Skywalker to attack the Droid Control Ship.
