Brawlhalla is a free-to-play online multiplayer 2D platform fighting video game developed and initially published by Blue Mammoth Games, which officially released on October 17, 2017.[2]
On February 23, 2024, it was announced that the game was having a special collaboration with Star Wars beginning on March 20 of that year. A debut trailer revealed that prequel era Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker would be joining the game as playable characters. A StarWars.com article announcing the collaboration teased at the introduction of more Star Wars content into the game throughout 2024.[6] On March 9, 2024, Brawlhalla released an announcement trailer revealing Ahsoka Tano would be joining as a third playable Star Wars character in the crossover event.[7]
On March 20, 2024, the Brawlhalla Star Wars Event debuted with the Patch 8.06 update to the game.[8] A launch trailer for the event revealed that the Sith Lord Darth Vader would be a playable character, and it announced several themed cosmetic items along with a new Mustafar-based map.[9]
On April 20, 2024, it was announced that on May 1, Darth Maul would join the game as Mythic Crossover.[10]
During Brawlhalla World Championship 2024, on November 17; the second wave of Star Wars collaborations titled "Outlaws and Scoundrels" was announced for release on December 4 of the same year. The new collaboration added Han Solo, Chewbacca, Kay Vess, Nix, Din Djarin, and Grogu as skins for preexisting characters.[11]
Star Wars content[]
The crossover event included new characters, a new map, and new cosmetics, as well as a limited-time game mode and a refreshed user interface. When a player logged into the game during the event, they would automatically receive the free title, Jedi Knight.[8]
Mythic Crossovers[]
In Brawlhalla, playable characters from crossover events are referred to as Mythic Crossovers. At the launch of the event, Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker (as depicted in Star Wars: The Clone Wars), and Darth Vader were Mythical Crossovers. Each character mirrored the abilities of a pre-existing character, known in Brawlhalla as Legends. The purchase of each Star Wars character also came with cosmetic items related to the character and unique lightsaber sound effects.[8]

Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker, and Obi-Wan Kenobi as portrayed in Brawlhalla.
Ahsoka Tano, described in Brawlhalla as "once a padawan, now an outcast who helps those in need no matter what," is depicted with two blue lightsabers. The animation in her Mythic Crossover panel in-game shows her cutting a hole in the floor beneath a B1-series battle droid before jumping up and posing with her lightsabers.[12] Ahsoka mirrored the abilities of the Legend Asuri, but with a custom katars light attack for Ahsoka's reverse grip. She had signature effects for swinging her blades, and purchase of Ahsoka came with the additional items of her lightsaber and shoto, and her lightsaber alone.[8]
Obi-Wan Kenobi, who was described in-game as "a legendary Jedi Master, noble and gifted in the ways of the Force," posed in his signature pre-duel stance, his second and third fingers pointed towards an unseen foe.[12] He mirrored the abilities of the Legend Val, with custom light attack effects. His signature effects were hoisting rocks up with the Force before launching them at enemies, and slashing low to the ground with his lightsaber. Purchase of Obi-Wan came with the additional items of his Republic General's gauntlets and his lightsaber.[8]
Anakin Skywalker was described in Brawlhalla as "a compassionate yet reckless Jedi Knight believed to be the prophesied Chosen One." He posed with his lightsaber aimed down in a defensive position.[12] He mirrored the abilities of Ezio, using a Jedi training remote as an orb. His signature effects involved lifting rocks from the ground to be thrust into enemies, and a wide slash of his lightsaber. The additional items that came with purchase of Anakin included his lightsaber and the Jedi training remote.[8]
Darth Vader was described in the game as "a Dark Lord of the Sith tasked with hunting down the Jedi." He posed with his lightsaber down, his left fist in the air as his cape billowed in the wind.[12] Like Anakin, he mirrored the abilities of Ezio, using durasteel debris as the orb. His signature effects included throwing large rocks and swinging widely at enemies. The items that came with the purchase of Vader were his lightsaber and the durasteel debris.[8]
Cosmetics[]

The Asgardian Lightsabers
Available in the in-game shop, Mallhalla, with the launch of the crossover were several cosmetic items, which could be applied beyond the Star Wars characters. One such cosmetic item was the emote, "Force Levitation," which allowed any playable character equipped with the emote to use the Force and lift up some small rocks.[12] As a purely cosmetic emote, the animation did not deal any damage. Another cosmetic was a set of Asgardian lightsabers, combining the Norse influences of the game with the iconic Star Wars weapon. The cosmetic could be applied to swords, spears, or katars, and included special animations and sound effects.[8]

The Star Wars emojis in Brawlhalla
Lastly, Mallhalla sold four Star Wars avatars and five emojis. The avatars included the Jedi crest (called "Jedi Order" in the game), the Republic crest (called "Galactic Republic"), a clash between Obi-Wan's blue lightsaber and Darth Vader's red lightsaber (called "Jedi vs Sith"), and a smiling tooka (simply titled "Tooka"). The first emoji, called "Ahsoka GG," featured the Togruta hero next to the letters "GG," written in a Star Wars-esque font, as if to say "good game, Skyguy." One emoji called "C-3PO Sweat" featured the protocol droid with dark gray beads of oil-like sweat on his forehead, holding a red rag to it. The "Vader Thumbs Down" emoji showed the floating head of the Sith with a thumbs down, also floating. The last two emojis, "Obi-Wan Wave" and "Anakin Think," showed the two Jedi doing just that.[8]
Mustafar stage[]

The "Mustafar" stage.
The launch of the event coincided with the release of a new free-for-all map in the game, "Mustafar." The map was reminiscent of the duel between Obi-Wan and Anakin during Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, with repulsor platforms hovering over rising lava.[9] Similarly, the Brawl of the Week Game Mode, "Brawl of the Heroes," echoes the title of the song, "Battle of the Heroes" from that fateful duel.[8]
