"You must have heard about Bray? The planet of eternal night?"
Thom Hudd, to Lina Graf[1]

Bray was a dark planet home to the Brayan species. During the Clone Wars, Count Dooku resided in a citadel along with Ravna, a mutated creature who could convert others into his kind. Dooku planned to allow Ravna to infect the Brayan population in exchange for using converted clone troopers to infiltrate the ranks of the Republic army, but their plans were halted by the Jedi Council.

Description[]

"Like you, I am but a guest on this gloom-ridden planet."
―Dooku, to Adi Gallia[1]

A dark and shadowy world, Bray appeared to be in perpetual night, overcast with dark clouds. Its surface was gray and rocky, covered in many natural rock formations. It was located close to a belt of asteroids.[1]

History[]

"The Jedi Council never ignores a cry for help."
"Especially on a planet suspected of Separatist activity."
―Obi-Wan Kenobi and Adi Gallia[1]

The creature known as Lord Ravna inhabited Bray, taking over the Citadel of Light and using it as his home. From the Citadel, Ravna infected the Brayan population of a nearby village, turning them into mutant creatures similar to himself.[1]

The Citadel of Light is destroyed

During the Clone Wars, the Galactic Republic suspected the planet of housing Separatist activity. Because of this, the Jedi Council were eager to investigate when a distress signal was received from the planet. Two Jedi Masters, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Adi Gallia, were sent to Bray with Commander Cody and his 7th Sky Corps. Kenobi and Gallia encountered one of Ravna's creatures, who infected the clone trooper Peel. The Jedi investigated the Citadel, discovering that Count Dooku was working with Lord Ravna, planning to infect the Republic army with Ravna's creatures and cause it to collapse. As Dooku confronted the Jedi Masters, he was infected by Ravna, but managed to fight back with help from Kenobi. As Dooku fought Ravna, the Jedi collapsed the Citadel, trapping the creature under its ruins. With Ravna entombed, the Brayans were freed and his existence became a myth.[1]

Inhabitants[]

"Life on Bray has always been hard, but since the arrival of the Dark Lord, it has been a living nightmare."
―A Brayan villager[1]

Bray was the homeworld of the humanoid Brayan species, who lived in villages that had working power, lights, and many droids. The Brayans found living on the planet difficult, and even more so while Ravna's creatures attacked their villages.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Bray first appeared in the flashback section of the 2018 canon comic Star Wars Adventures: Tales from Vader's Castle 2, which was written by Cavan Scott and illustrated by Kelley Jones.[1] It was named after the film and television facility Bray Studios, where many famous horror films were filmed, such as the 1966 film Dracula: Prince of Darkness, in which Count Dooku actor Christopher Lee starred in the titular role.[2]
