"A coward you are not, Qui-Gon Jinn. Her planet, you had to leave."
―Yoda, to Qui-Gon Jinn, discussing the latter's withdrawal from Bri'n[1]

Bri'n was an arboreal planet with a breathable atmosphere and various flora and fauna. A horned humanoid species lived on the planet. In 37 BBY, the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, were sent to Bri'n to assist with negotiations between Priestess Th'er and the Metal Clan, a group that opposed her and wished to destroy the trees present on the planet. Once the negotiations failed, the Jedi were forced to bring Th'er to safety on the planet Coruscant, but advised her to seek offworld allies.

Description[]

"More outsiders to strip our world of everything we value, you mean."
―Th'er, to Qui-Gon Jinn[1]

Bri'n was a terrestrial arboreal planet with an atmosphere breathable to humans and its sentient resident species. Its fauna included lizards and reptavians—two species with reptilian traits. In addition to skyscrapers on its surface, Bri'n had trees which were valued by its inhabitants.[1]

History[]

"It sounds like the negotiations didn't end well?"
"There is little middle ground between cutting down a tree and not cutting down a tree."
―Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn, on the failed negotiations between Th'er and the Metal Clan[1]
Escape from Brin

Qui-Gon Jinn flees from the Metal Clan with Th'er.

In 37 BBY,[2] a conflict arose between Priestess of Wood Th'er, whose supporters defended the planet's trees, and the Metal Clan, which sought to destroy the trees. The Jedi Order subsequently sent Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, to Bri'n with the intention of finding a peaceful solution to the conflict.[1]

The negotiations failed, and the Metal Clan pursued the priestess and Jinn through a forest, where they were rescued by an Eta-class shuttle piloted by Kenobi. Jinn was forced to bring Th'er to safety on[1] the planet[3] Coruscant, despite her complaints, as she did not want to abandon her trees to the Metal Clan. Although Th'er accused the Jedi of cowardice for leaving the planet, Grand Master Yoda later assured Jinn that it had been a necessary decision. While on Coruscant, Jinn advised Th'er to find allies to back her against the Metal Clan, which had already acquired its own powerful off-world allies. Even though the priestess was hesitant, the Jedi Master was able to convince her that it was for the good of her world.[1]

Inhabitants[]

"Your word or your blood, mistress Th'er. The trees will fall with one or the other."
―The leader of the Metal Clan, to Priestess Th'er[1]

Many members of the Metal Clan belonged to a horned species.

A horned humanoid species resided on Bri'n, members of which included Th'er and several members of the Metal Clan, including its leader. Th'er believed that the planet and its flora were to be preserved as they were, while the Metal Clan wanted to destroy Bri'n's trees. The clan claimed that they would do so regardless of Th'er's protests and threatened her with death.[1]
