Brian Jay Jones is a New York Times bestselling writer and biographer who wrote the 2016 biography George Lucas: A Life

Jones is also the author of the 2013 book Jim Henson: The Biography, the first comprehensive biography of Muppet creator (and consultant on Yoda) Jim Henson, as well as a 2008 biography of the American writer Washington Irving. Prior to his work as a biographer, Jones spent nearly two decades as a public policy analyst, advisor and speechwriter in the U.S. Senate. He left politics to pursue writing after the publication of his biography on Washington Irving.

Jones has served as president and vice president of Biographers International Organization. He earned a degree in English from the University of New Mexico, and currently lives in Maryland with his wife.

He has stated that he believes Han shot first.
