- "Since Sy Myrth is largely self-sufficient and quite wealthy, I think the only thing the planet will "suffer" is being released from the burden of Republic taxation."
- ―Brookish Boon
Brookish Boon was a male Sy Myrthian political commentator and com-host who hosted a rival show to Amberdawn during the Clone Wars. While criticizing the corrupt Galactic Republic government, Boon enjoyed luxury financed from his own corruption, including taking bribes. He commented on Sy Myrth's secession from the Galactic Republic, and believed that, due to the planet's wealth, the only thing Sy Myrth would miss were the Republic's taxes.
Behind the scenes[]
The character of Brookish Boon was first mentioned in the HoloNet News Vol. 531 #45, one of the many in-universe Holonet News issues published in 2002, shortly before the release of Attack of the Clones.[2]
In the 2005 reference book Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith: The Visual Dictionary, a Sy Myrthian character who appeared fleetingly in Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith was identified as "Brookish Boone." According to that book, "Brookish Boone" attended the Galaxies Opera House performance of Squid Lake in 19 BBY, with a secret recording device hidden beneath "her" mantilla.[5]
