The Bureau of Operations, or simply known as the Bureau, was a branch of the Galactic Empire's Imperial Intelligence organization that handled important covert operations that were beyond the standard operating scope of local resources. It had a variety of responsibilities, including monitoring enemy activity, industrial and commercial surveillance, diplomacy issues, and occasionally the destabilization of entities and implementation of assassinations.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The Bureau of Operations was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Dawn of Rebellion, a roleplaying supplementary sourcebook for the Star Wars Roleplaying series published by Fantasy Flight Games in 2018.[1] The Bureau also existed in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was introduced in the 1989 Imperial Sourcebook, which was authored by Greg Gorden and published by West End Games.[2] It performed a similar role of carrying out covert operations and performing surveillance.[3]
