CH-83 was a BB-series astromech droid with a black sensor and green, gray, and white paneling. As a member of the BB-series, it was manufactured by Industrial Automaton and stood 0.67 meters tall. In 34 ABY, during the First Order's occupation of the planet Batuu, CH-83 was displayed among droid parts on one of the shelves inside Droid Depot, a store in Batuu's Black Spire Outpost.
Behind the scenes
CH-83 appeared as a prop within the themed land Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, which was opened to guests at Disneyland Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios Park in 2019. The droid was first identified in 2021 when a wind-up toy of the droid was released as part of the Droid Depot toy line.
Notes and references
- Star Wars Character Encyclopedia, New Edition states that BB-series astromech droids are manufactured by Industrial Automaton and stand 0.67 meters tall. As CH-83 is shown to be a BB-series astromech droid in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge – Droid Depot, these characteristics must apply to it as well.
- Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge – Droid Depot
- The Star Wars Book dates the Battle of Batuu, which is depicted in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge via the attraction Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, to 34 years after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the events of A New Hope to 0 BBY, therefore the events of Galaxy's Edge, including CH-83's appearance, must take place in 34 ABY.
