- "Hey you. No droids!"
- ―A cook droid, to R2-D2
The COO-series cook droid,[1] also known simply as a COO Cook Droid,[8] was a type of class three droid.[2] The 6.5 or 7 feet Cooking droid,[3] manufactured by Industrial Automaton, was designed to demands of places where large numbers of people all needed to be fed efficiently such as mining operations, military bases, civilian space stations, and scientific research complex. The droid had extendable arms for handing to multiple customers and magnetized feet that could lock onto deck plates. Also COO-series droids had a photoreceptor that could see into the infrared spectrum in order to analyze heat distribution while cooking, and an olfactory sensor to determine if food was spoiled. But the arms had to be removed if the recipe data storage which in the droid's torso upgrades, and the adding work was time-consuming, so most didn't bother, and left the COO droids simply to reheat pre-packed food. As a result of these, they became known for being rather grumpy.[1]
History[]
In 22 BBY,[9] a cook droid served aboard the AA-9 Freighter-Liner Jendirian Valley that transported the Senator Padmé Amidala and her guard, the Jedi Anakin Skywalker, to Amidala's home planet of Naboo.[7]
One COO-series cook droid served the Alliance to Restore the Republic aboard the starship Silver Arrow. Like the rest of the ship's droid crew, the cook droid was infected by the Scourge. The Scourge used the droids to slaughter all organic crew aboard. Later, the Scourge used the COO-series droid and its other infected droids aboard the Silver Arrow to ambush Magna Tolvan's crew.[5]
In 4 ABY, one unit worked in Jabba's Palace.[10] In 9 ABY,[11] the palace still had a unit stationed there. When the former bounty hunter Boba Fett and Master Assassin Fennec Shand infiltrated the palace through a grate in the kitchen, the COO-series cook droid was preparing food alongside a EV-series sous-chef droid. The two droids heard the sound of the grate, which the EV-series guessed was a rat. The cook droid sent the sous-chef droid to find the rat, contacting the LEP-series rat catcher, but the EV droid was instead knocked down by Fett. Stepping out from behind its counter to confront Fett, the chef droid began to spin the knives on its six arms. However, before the droid could attack, Shand crept up behind it, slicing off its head.[4]
A COO-series droid was acquired by the Plazir-15's government and were repurposed for civilian duties, with one of these droids was spiked by Nepenthé which had been laced with nano-droids and attacked patrons with it's knives.[6]
