"Master, why is the installation necessary? We could override the gravfield in this part of the ship and let Officer Fybot spend the trip in free-fall. It would be much more comfortable."
"What, and have his birdseed floating everywhere? Not a chance. Besides, his physiology is supposed to be delicate or something, like a canary's. Don't ask me why they made somebody like that a cop—that would require an assumption that logic functions at some level of government."
Vuffi Raa and Lando Calrissian, preparing the Millennium Falcon for Quor'sav passenger Waywa Fybot[src]

A canary was a bird known for its delicate physiology. The avian Quor'sav species had a similarly frail constitution.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The canary is mentioned only in passing in the novel Lando Calrissian and the Flamewind of Oseon, written by L. Neil Smith and first published in 1983. Although the novel reveals little about the species, the canary is an actual bird found on Earth.
