"I find your lack of socks disturbing."
―Darth Vader, to the commanding officer[2]

An individual was a human Imperial officer tasked as the commanding officer of Candace under the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War.[2] In 0 BBY,[1] the commanding officer was aboard the Tantive IV to chase after the Rebellions. He was ordered to purchase a new pair of socks for Darth Vader, which he passed the task onto Candace, Baljeet, and Buford. Candace reluctantly agreed and went to get a new pair of socks.[2]

Soon after, on Tatooine, the commanding officer met Candace again and accidentally leaked about the missing Death Star plans, which peaked Candace's interest in searching for the plans. He quickly shut down Candace's curiosity and told her to leave and go on with her mission. Candace eventually completed her task and handed a bag to the commanding officer, thinking that it was the socks. He then left the desert planet using a Lambda-class T-4a shuttle to hand the new pair of socks on DS-1 Death Star Mobile Battle Station to Darth Vader.[2]

As he reached his destination, the officer then went ahead to meet Darth Vader and complete the mission. Unfortunately, the bag did not contain any socks, but rather a fresh bantha cheese hoagie which was supposed to be Buford's meal. In his anger and disappointment, Vader Force choked the commanding officer and killed him in the process.[2]
