Carbine

A carbine was a category of ranged weapons generally smaller than rifles but larger than pistols. The distinction between pistol, carbine and rifle existed for most types of ranged weapons, including blaster (blaster carbine), disruptor (disruptor carbine) and slugthrower (slugthrower carbine).^[1]

Although carbines and rifles could often look very similar, these two categories of weapons usually had distinct characteristics. The rifles could generally fire at greater range while carbines had faster firing rate.^[1]
