A carpet, or rug[1] was a covering of the floor used throughout the galaxy.

Types of carpetEdit

  • Wrodian carpet was a luxurious carpet with rich colors and a fine weave. These could take generations to complete.[2]
  • Foam-carpet was not technically carpet, but it was an inexpensive replacement which could be sprayed directly onto the floor to create a soft cushion.[4]
  • Huj mats were types of rugs woven with an assortment of colors and shapes.[5]

The planet Harswee, a Mandalorian world located in the Mandalore sector, was known for luxurious loom-woven rugs. The Coronet, the personal starliner of Duchess Satine Kryze of the New Mandalorians, made extensive use of Harswee carpeting.[6] The Mandalorian leader known as Mandalore the Binder hailed from Harswee, where he grew up as the son of one of the world's rug weavers.[7]

Residences of Tatooine were known to create handwoven carpets.[8]

Wookiees were often derogatorily referred to as "carpet-bags" during the Clone Wars. They were also referred to as "walking carpets" under a similarly derogatory manner, notably being used towards the Wookiee Chewbacca.[9][10]

"Red carpet" was a slang term used by some members of the Rebel Alliance to describe a large quantity of explosives.[11]



Wampa-skin rugs such as these were seen as symbols of refined taste and class.
