"The government of Corellia is beyond corrupt! They can exterminate families like they are vermin! I'm going to take my little family and go to live in the woods. I will have my revenge! The world will know the name of Raynod Menar!!"
Raynod Menar[1]

The cave-dwellers formed an anti-government and criminal organization active on Corellia during the Galactic Civil War.

History[]

"Listen, they know that they are in trouble. A transmission just came from there threatening to kill their hostages. Do whatever you must to save them. I'll transfer all the information that I have to you."
Commander Talte, to a spacer[2]

By the time of the Battle of Yavin, the cave-dwellers were a Corellian anti-establishment and criminal group that opposed the Corellian government. At some point, their leader Raynod Menar decided to move all the members of the movement in the wilderness of the planet Corellia in order to live in isolation from the rest of society. They eventually took shelter in a cave in the Thaos Mountains.[1]

In 1 ABY,[3] psychotic cave-dwellers captured two groups of hikers in the Thaos Mountains.[2] Ilyamo and other hikers were kept as hostages in the dwellers' cave.[4] Commander Talte of the Corellian Security Force therefore hired a spacer to investigate the disappearances of the hikers.[5] The spacer fought several cave-dwellers at the spot where the second group disappeared. From a communicator found on a body, the spacer managed to triangulate a signal to the cave.[2] The CorSec finally assaulted the cave and freed the hostages. Raynod Menar was killed by the spacer during the attack.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The cave-dwellers appeared in the video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[2] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[6] The cave-dwellers were added to the game with the release of the "Publish 28," on April 26, 2006.[7]

  3. The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
