Celebration Japan is a fan convention which was held at the Makuhari-Messe Convention Center near Tokyo from July 19[2] to July 21, 2008[source?]. It was the first Celebration event to be held in Japan. Its purpose was to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original Star Wars film, which debuted in Japan on June 24, 1978. The convention was managed by Lucasfilm Ltd. and the Lewis Daniel Group.

On February 23, 2008, Stephen J. Sansweet announced Celebration Japan at Wonder-Con.[3] Later that day, StarWars.com posted an official announcement regarding Celebration Japan.[1]

Events[]

Events included talks with Dave Filoni for the then-upcoming movie and TV series, as well as screenings of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.
