Celegians[3] were a tentacled sentient species. One Celegian was present at the annual pre-Dragon Void Run celebration aboard the Dragon Void space station in 0 ABY.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Celegians appeared, albeit unidentified, in the current Star Wars canon in the first issue of the comic miniseries Star Wars: Han Solo, which was written by Marjorie Liu, illustrated by Mark Brooks,[1] and published by Marvel Comics on June 15, 2016.[4] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Celegians originated in Tales of the Jedi – The Golden Age of the Sith 0, written by Kevin J. Anderson and illustrated by Chris Gossett.[5] Illustrator Mark Brooks confirmed on Twitter that he included a Celegian in the issue after doing research into various alien races to use.[3]

The Essential Atlas and Galactic Cartography: Official Discussion (post by jasonfry) on the Jedi Council Forums' Literature board (December 11, 2007): "I wouldn't get your hopes up re alien homeworlds, beyond simple stuff like the Planetnamian species getting a Planetnamia on the map or things Dan and I can account for with a relatively quick reference." (backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. This article treats the Celegia system as the location of one such homeworld with regard to the Celegian species.

I spotted what looks to be a Celegian in 'Han Solo #1,' which would make it the first time one's appeared in Canon! Any insight @MarkBrooksArt?")
