"As former chair of the Senate, I served on a committee with Vallt's representatives, and even then they were a disaffected group, complaining about being ignored by the Republic."
―Vice Chancellor Mas Amedda[src]

Chair of the Senate was a position in the Galactic Senate of the Galactic Republic, and a duty of the position was to meet with representatives of Republic member worlds in committees. Mas Amedda held the position sometime prior to becoming Vice Chancellor. During his time as chair of the Senate Amedda met with representatives of the Outer Rim planet Vallt in a committee.

Chair of the Senate was a position in the Galactic Senate of the Galactic Republic. A duty tasked to the individual in the role was to meet with representatives of Republic member worlds in a committee. The committee was meant to discuss problems the world faced, but they did not always get to a resolution.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

"Vallt teetered on the edge for a decade."
―Mas Amedda, recalling the planet Vallt from his time as chair of the Senate[src]

Former chair of the Senate Mas Amedda by the time he had reached the position of Vice Chancellor.

Sometime prior to becoming the Vice Chancellor of the Republic, the Chagrian Mas Amedda severed as the chair of the Senate. At some point during his time in the position, Amedda met with representatives of the Outer Rim planet Vallt in a committee. The world did not receive much trade or respect from the Republic, as well as lacking fair representation in the government. However, when the representatives informed Amedda that they had been ignored, Amedda and the committee did not work to help the planet. Instead, Amedda became annoyed with Vallt, viewing them as a disaffected group.[1]

During the time of Chancellor Finis Valorum, Amedda won the position of[2] Vice Chancellor, which he continued to hold this position into the chancellery of Sheev Palpatine and the Clone Wars.[1] Around a year into the war,[source?] Vallt became part of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, which promised the fair representation, trade, and respect it had never gotten from the Republic. After Lieutenant Commander Orson Krennic informed Amedda that the scientist Galen Erso was on Vallt and could be used to complete a secret project, Amedda showed annoyance at the mention of Vallt, and recounted his experience with the planet from his time as chair of the Senate.[1]
