The rogue archaeologist Doctor Chelli Aphra ran a crew of various bounty hunters, assassin droids, and even the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader. Darth Vader hired Aphra to build secret forces without the knowledge of Vader's Sith Master Darth Sidious in 0 ABY. Aphra, however, eventually fell out of Vader's favor, and she went back to searching for lost artifacts.

After, she obtained the Kyber crystal with the conscience of an ancient Jedi called Rur with her team including Black Krrsantan, 0-0-0 and BT-1.[6] She attempted to auction it to a handful of criminal syndicates[7] but failed when 0-0-0 wanted her to free him from his programmed leash and released Rur on the criminals.[8] Rur killed most of the criminals and 0-0-0 was free of his leash by Aphra, but not before contacting Darth Vader.[9] Vader arrived to find Rur and defeated him after a short duel, obtaining the crystal. Aphra, Krrsantan, 0-0-0 and BT-1 escaped in separate ships and 0-0-0 and BT-1 took control of the Rodian gang known as the Son-tuul Pride.[10]

Members of the crew included 0-0-0, a protocol droid reactivated by Aphra,[3] Chelli's estranged father Korin, who agreed to help Aphra in discovering the secrets of Ordu Aspectu,[2] the bounty hunter Black Krrsantan was a bounty who took part in a raid on the Son-tuul Pride with Aphra[4] before he later rescued and healed Aphra after Vader attempted to kill her.[11] He continue to help Aphra in endeavors.[6]
