Doctor Cheyerooto was a male Wookiee bio-engineer who lived during the Galactic Civil War.

Doctor Cheyerooto was a bio-engineer who gained some notoriety on Chandrila. However, at some point in his career, he returned to the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk. He then resided in Kachirho and worked in the great tree's medical center.[1]
Mad Wookiees in the abandoned village
After the Battle of Yavin, Cheyerooto and a friend, the Human woman Sera Jossi, were concerned about a strange new disease afflicting a number of Wookiees. The illness was marked by deteriorating health, giving rise to a madness which compelled the anguished Wookiees to attack anyone who approached them. Cheyerooto and Sera Jossi therefore intended to discover the cause of the disease that afflicted the Wookiees.[1] In 1 ABY,[2] the woman tasked a spacer with killing the Wookiee named Wrhisch and collecting his liver. Since the latter was one of the first to come under the sickness and was dying from the decay it caused, Doctor Cheyerooto thought that the liver could be used to identify the disease and develop a cure. The spacer explored an old abandoned village inhabited by the mad Wookiees, found the Wookiee Wrhisch, killed him and collected his liver. The adventurer later delivered Wrhisch's liver to Doctor Cheyerooto.[1] As expected, the organ from the afflicted Wookiee allowed the bio-engineer to start developing a treatment. However, the Wookiee needed to find rrwii roots to finalize the cure. Since this kind of root only grew in the Etyyy region of Kashyyyk, the adventurer had first to get access to the area from the Rodian hunters who took over the region. Finally, the spacer collected the plants and returned to Dr. Cheyerooto, allowing the Wookiee bio-engineer to finish the preparation of his treatment.[3]

Dr. Cheyerooto was a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[4] Dr. Cheyerooto was added to the game with the release of the expansion pack Rage of the Wookiees on May 5, 2005.[1]

Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
